About

The one thing I’ve realized– marketing is not only something I do for a living, it’s my passion.

Brand building, new social media trends, creatives, consumer behavior… everything and anything marketing communications is what drives me. The constant changes and demand to stay on your toes are challenges that I openly accept and thrive on. And at the risk of sounding “nerdy,” nothing grabs my attention more than a well-written article explaining why consumers are acting and buying a certain way.

With this being said, it’s been a long road to find that passion and realization that I love Ad Age articles and keeping up with Facebook trends. I started my college career as a marketing major at St. Bonaventure, a small school about an hour and a half outside of Buffalo, NY. After a year of being a marketing major, I switched to the ever-glorious Russel J. Jandoli School of Journalism and Mass Communication… (insert sigh of relief).  I learned about PR, branding, design layout, traditional and nontraditional advertising from professors who cared and had the same passions I did.

What I did ask for, however, was the chance to live and work in one of my favorite places– New York City. There’s always been something about that city that just seems to call my name and won’t let me slip away. And what I think it comes down to is a mix of my competitive nature (add cliché quote about making it in the ‘Big City’) and my love for being around people. New York was the perfect fit for me and that’s why I was thrilled to accept an internship at SiriusXM Radio during the summer of 2009… you can read more of me gushing about this in my Experience section.

After that summer I decided I wanted to continue my education and learn more about this field I had fallen in love with. And that’s where I am now, working on my MA in the Integrated Marketing Communications program back at St. Bonaventure. The combination of PR, advertising, strategic planning and research which the program requires you to excel in, made for the perfect program for me.

Today, after months of job searching, I landed the perfect introductory job in marketing– Marketing Coordinator at Saratoga Casino and Raceway. Although I jumped into this job with minimal knowledge of the gaming and racing industries, it has proven to be  one of the greatest professional experiences yet.

So what this blog is about is my passion for all things marketing. Not just the ads or the branding or the social media trends, but all of it kind of mashed together. Because I love all of it, and I truly believe you must find that perfect mashing combo to have a successful campaign these days.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let me know! Another reason I love communications is because you can do just that- communicate. So email, tweet, message me or whatever if you have any suggestions!

Happy reading!
